Leila Kanani is a partner at Stratus. Her practice emphasizes patent application preparation and prosecution, post grant work, patent portfolio development, opinions, as well as patent due diligence.
Leila has extensive experience developing strategic patent portfolios and prosecuting both U.S. and international patent applications. She has written and prosecuted numerous patent applications, and focuses on in-person prosecution of patent applications at the USPTO. She also has significant experience in the area of fast-track patent examination. Ms. Kanani leverages her industry experience to help clients obtain and enforce their patent rights in a number of technological arenas.
Leila also handles complex patent matters involving inter partes reviews, post-grant reviews, covered business method patent reviews, and reexamination as part of an overall litigation strategy in a variety of technologies. She has also provided infringement and validity analysis in opinion work and in support of litigation. She is active in many aspects of IP strategy and patent portfolio valuation.
Prior to law school, Ms. Kanani worked as a software developer for a large consulting company where she developed software for the telecommunications industry. She has also worked at three global IP boutiques, starting as a patent agent while she was in law school.
